Tabitha Duncan will return again for this years music industry panel. A powerful songstress from Muskegon, Michigan, Tabitha is not your typical R&B singer. Her metaphorical lyrics and striking sound enable her to produce tunes that take the listener on an authentic musical journey. Those who know her best say, “Nobody but you would come up with something like that!” And they’re right.
Moving to Atlanta at age 18 in 1991, Tabitha launched her music career with the successful R&B girl group Kut Klose, which released an album in 1995 produced by Keith Sweat. Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, by the female trio of Tabitha Duncan, Athena Cage and LaVonn Battle, Kut Klose specialize in a sassy brand of urban R&B pop, primarily mounted on their smooth harmonies. Their debut album, Surrender, was the second to be released on Keith Sweat’s Keia Records label (the first being Silk’s platinum-selling debut), and merged pop sensibilities with hip-hop beats and simplistic but effective lyrics - as Battle puts it: ‘A little hip-hop, a little rhythm and blues, a little soulful and a little youthful.’ Comprising ballads such as ‘I Like’ and ‘Giving You My Love’ alongside the New Jill Swing of ‘Don’t Change’, the opening single was ‘Get Up On It’, a duet with Sweat himself. The album was written and produced by Sweat, Eric McCaine (of Entouch) and the group themselves, and recorded at the Sweat Shop, the state-of-the-art studio built by Sweat in his Atlanta home.
Although the group parted their separate ways years later, as of 2010 Kut Klose has released a new single in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore album. Meanwhile, Tabitha's desire to bring her own life thru her music and vision to make a positive difference, and she intends to make a change loving and living life thru song.
Tabitha gets her inspiration from real life and how it is lived by ordinary people—she’s determined not to conform to current industry trends when it comes to her lyrics and unique sound. Her versatile songs beckon the listener to experience what’s in her soul—love, passion, intensity, vulgarity—and in the end she wants her songs to have a positive impact. An introspective singer who takes her role as a songwriter seriously, Tabitha wants people to experience her music, not just through the rhythms and beats, but also through the emotion behind her words.
Her written musical accomplishments started with "I like" performed by Kut Klose. Which were the groups first single from their debut album "Surrender". She also wrote on Surrender, Keep on, lovely thang, and Don't Change of Kut Kloses album. Tabitha branched off and wrote on other groups like RnB trio Jade, Toni Braxton's sisters The Braxton's, and "Twisted" by the multi platinum RnB artist Keith Sweat. Tabitha also received a BMI award for song of the year with "Twisted".
So if you are looking for that one thing that you’re missing Tabitha could fill that spot.
