Dr. Riki Brooks is the driving force behind this festival. Yes she is the CEO and founder of the Atlanta Health Care, Music & Gospel festival since the beginning and proudly brings it into it's 11th year. She is the Executive Director of the Leading Women’s Repertory Theatre, a non-profit, tax exempt corporation, based in Atlanta, Georgia, where her mission is to provide community programs through theatre arts. Dr. Riki Brooks continiuously creates programs for to women and youth that have resulted in several musical productions, after school and summer camp arts programs that enrich our community. She has spent 15 years creating an atmosphere where young women and teens can spread their creative wings in and throughout the Metro-Atlanta area. She has produced and directed notable plays like “Satin Dolls,” “Holy Ghost Party,” and “Walking in the Spirit,” just to name a few that have played major venues. Dr. Riki and the Atlanta Health Care & Music Festival provide a forum for people to come together each year to share good news and good experiences.
Dr. Brooks is an extremely seasoned and talented actress, and an exceptionally well-trained vocalist with vocal study credits from the Peabody Conservatory School of Music and Howard University. She is a skilled choreographer and director and has toured with many Broadway shows, such as “Dreamgirls,” “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “A Chorus Line,” “Eubie” and “Li’l Shop of Horrors.” She is a former contestant of Miss Baltimore and Miss Black America pageants, and proudly holds a Doctorate in Ministry Arts from Trinity University of Indiana. She received the “Phoenix Award” from the city of Atlanta’s Mayor Kaseem Reed in addition to a Proclamation and Endorsement from Governor Nathan Deal. She is a graduate of the Performing Arts from Bowie State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science. She was one of Atlanta’s Gospel Choice Best New Artist nominees, the Hostess of the T.D. Jakes MegaFest Family Expo Stage, has been recognized by Billboard magazine on several occasions, placed in the Top 100 on the Gospel Charts, while consecutively on various other charts, as well being listed in “Who’s Who in Atlanta”.
She has received numerous Acknowledgments from the office of Mayor Shirley Franklin, the late Rev. Creecy of the SCLC, the City of Duluth, Georgia, the City of Roswell Mayor Jere Wood, by Way of Proclamation, the City of Miami Dade County, Mayor Alex Penelas by Way of Proclamation, and the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and senate endorsements.
Dr. Riki Brooks is the proud wife of Tony Collins, former musician of the renowned group “The Whispers,”and a proud dedicated mother. . Dr. Brooks and the Leading Women’s Repertory Theatre will continue to empower the community and to inspire women and teens to pursue their dreams.
