Dr. D. Fiyah Oates (“Dr. Fiyah”) will participate on the Mental Health panel She holds a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology from the Theological Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She has completed 80 hours of GACA certification hours for addictions counseling through ACTS consulting. In 2014 she graduated from the Faith Leadership Academy at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Fiyah is certified in counseling survivors of sexual abuse, sexual trafficking and sexual abuse prevention. She is certified in Anger Management. She is also a workshop facilitator for 2 years at STAND, Inc., an agency that serves the recovery population, especially for those who are returning to society.

She is presenting in subject areas such as meditation, entrepreneurship, job and career readiness. In addition, for 5 years Dr. Fiyah is a certified trainer for Microsoft Xbox where she trained customer service agents. As a contractor, she has contracts with Laurel Heights Children’s Hospital, YES Georgia, a youth organization, providing empowerment workshops in the area of personal power and entrepreneurship and Tapestri, Inc., an organization geared towards empowering the immigration population who has experience levels of sexual trafficking and domestic abuse. Dr. Fiyah is also contracted with several companies in teaching the value of meditation practices and techniques that she calls “Therapeutic Meditation”.

Most recently, Dr. Fiyah is an adjunct professor and heads the women’s division of the ‘University for Parents” a National CARES mentoring movement initiative fostered by Susan L. Taylor of Essence Magazine. She also sits on the board of the Dekalb County Juvenile Court Justice Foundation, Inc.

Dr. Fiyah’s body of work consists of being the creator of a unique empowerment sessions called the “W.O.W. Walk on Water: the miracle of overcoming your fears”. These sessions are from a model that she has created that assist individuals through the process of self-awareness and self discovery. Ultimately individuals learn how to accept responsibility and through the process experience new levels of emotional freedom and inner transformation.
